We’ve realised that the opportunity to network with similarly-minded trainees is often limited, and with the development of the RCGP Rural Forum, it will be essential to have trainees on board… there’s 9,000 of us in the UK, and there’s a growing interest in rural practice.
Plus, if you’re a GP trainee outside the UK, we would welcome you to join the group too. International perspectives are so important, and some areas of Australia, Scandinavia and of course the UK are leading the way with rural medicine.
To join, follow the link below to the RuralTrainee page – you’ll need to register with Google Groups but note that you don’t need a Gmail/Googlemail email address for this.
We hope that the Group will allow common questions re finding placements, how to adapt your training to the needs of rural practice, and any other issues, to be tackled. You can choose to receive emails when they happen, once daily, or alternatively just view messages when you wish. We hope to use the group to set up virtual groups for things like AKT/CSA practice, teleconferencing small group learning, posting educational opportunities and being an informal bunch of like-minded folk who might need a sounding board once in a while!
