Vacancy: Kyle Medical Practice, Lochalsh (GP Partner)

kyles

An opportunity for partnership has arisen at the Kyle Medical Practice. A current partner is relocating due to personal circumstances and we are now looking for an 8-10 session partner to join our happy, 4 partner nGMS practice with a healthy work-life balance.

The practice has a list size of approximately 2600 and covers a large geographical area from Kyleakin in South Skye to Cluanie and from Ardnaff to Mam Ratagan. There is an immediate care hospital at Broadford (9 miles from the practice) staffed by Rural Practitioners. This has a small 24/7 A+E and covers GP out of hours for the practice area – there is therefore no out of hours commitment for the practice GPs, however OOH shifts may be available locally if desired. Plans have been approved by the Scottish Government to build a new immediate care hospital at Broadford.

kylesThe practice is based in Lochalsh Healthcare Centre in Kyle of Lochalsh. The building is Health Board owned, accommodating dental facilities on the upper floor and office areas for locality district nurses, CPN’s, midwives, Health Visitors, school nurse, Occupational therapist and Speech and Language Therapist. This offers excellent opportunities for multidisciplinary team communication. There are also teleconferencing facilities and a meeting room. The practice itself has five GP consulting rooms, one of which is kept for visiting specialists / optician / medical students and GP trainees as we are an undergraduate and postgraduate training practice. There is also a practice nurse room and a separate treatment room. The building was purpose built, and was completed in August 2008.

kyles2We are paperlite, using VISION and Docman clinical systems. Our QOF point achievement is consistently high and the practice also participates in the Scottish Patient Safety Programme in Scotland. If eligible, standard + additional rurality Golden Hello payments may be available to the successful applicant. There are good local services and schools with the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music based at Plockton High School. Skye and Lochalsh also offers many outdoor activity options and is world renowned as a location for climbing, hill-walking, trail running and sea kayaking.
